Projects
My various ongoing and previous projects.
Current
These are projects I'm currently working on, or at least intending to work on.
- LENS is a Linux-based operating system in Rust, designed without backwards-compatibility with Unix-like operating systems, including current Linux distributions.
- XSite is an XML-based static site generator, used to build this site.
- Lillybooks is a Markov chain-based social media bot, mainly targeted at the ActivityPub protocol.
- HIF is a SQLite-based format for HERO System character sheets.
Past
These are projects I worked on in the past, which I've shelved indefinitely. They may come back in the future, maybe in some other form, but they're likely either dead, or, in very lucky cases, finished.
- Weblite (name preliminary) is a community effort I'm involved in to build smaller versions of the specifications that underlie the Web.
- The Stream Resource Application Protocol is an Internet protocol designed to provide infrastructure for building network-based applications that avoids the overhead and complexity of HTTP while keeping some of its advantages.
- Extensible Hypertext is a modular XML-based language designed as a potential replacement for HTML. While it does work, at least in some browsers, it's also fairly clunky and at least moderately unnecessary.
- The Extremely Simple Firmware Interface is a standard for boot firmware to communicate with an operating system, designed to avoid the complexity of UEFI and the traditional BIOS, among others.
